Sync Astravue with Apple Calendar (iCal)?

Syncing Astravue to iCal gives users a simple, always-visible view of their tasks and deadlines inside the calendar app they already use.

Benefits:

  • See tasks alongside meetings so planning is easier.

  • Get reminders from Apple Calendar for important tasks.

  • Quickly check upcoming work on phone, tablet, or Mac without opening Astravue

  • Optionally limit the feed to a single project or omit completed tasks so your calendar stays tidy.

In Astravue, generate the iCal link

  1. Click your profile icon (top right).

  2. Choose SettingsIntegrations.

  3. Open Apple Calendar integration.

  4. Click Generate Calendar link to produce your personal iCal URL.

  5. Decide which tasks to include:

    • All tasks (full feed) — choose this if you want every task in your calendar.

    • Tasks from a specific project — select the project you want included.

    • Exclude completed tasks — toggle this option on if you want completed items filtered out.

  6. When the feed options are set, click Copy link (or highlight + copy the URL).

On macOS Calendar (Calendar app)

  1. Open the Calendar app.

  2. From the menu bar choose File → New Calendar Subscription.

  3. Paste the Astravue iCal URL into the box and click Subscribe.

  4. Choose a name, a refresh interval (e.g., every 15 minutes or every hour), and any other display options.

  5. Click OK. The Astravue tasks will appear as a calendar in Calendar.app.

On iPhone / iPad (iOS)

  1. Open Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other.

  2. Tap Add Subscribed Calendar.

  3. Paste the Astravue iCal URL and tap Next → Save.

  • Open the Calendar app — your Astravue tasks will show up under the subscribed calendar.

Manage tasks from iCal

  • You can view and receive reminders for tasks in iCal.

  • Editing task details should be done in Astravue (most iCal subscriptions are read-only). Changes made in Astravue will appear in iCal after the next refresh.

  • If you want to stop seeing the feed, remove the subscribed calendar from Calendar.app (or Accounts on iOS).

Quick troubleshooting & notes

  • Privacy: the iCal URL includes a private token — do not share it publicly. Treat it like a password.

  • Revoke access: to stop the feed or issue a new token, go back to Settings → Integrations → Apple Calendar in Astravue and disable or regenerate the link.

  • Read vs. write: most calendar subscriptions are read-only. To change task details, edit them in Astravue so the feed updates correctly.

  • If the URL is rejected by Calendar.app: confirm you copied the entire URL, ensure no extra spaces, and that your network allows outgoing requests to external feeds.
