Holidays
Holidays is where you define the specific dates your team doesn't work, on top of your regular Operational Hours calendar. You can mark a holiday as a one-time date or set it to recur every year, and once it's added, Astravue automatically excludes it from every task duration and date calculation.
Why this setting matters
Operational Hours tells us which days you work. Holidays tells us which specific days you don't, even if they'd normally count as a workday.
Skip this, and a deadline can look fine on paper. Then the holiday hits, no one's working, and the date is already wrong.
This matters even more for global teams. A holiday in one country is just a normal day somewhere else. The USA alone has 11 federal holidays a year. Miss even one, and your whole delivery date quietly shifts without anyone noticing until it's too late.
Add your holidays once. Mark the ones that repeat every year. From then on, every task plans around them automatically.
How to set up Holidays
Go to Admin Console, Settings -> Instance Configuration and open Holidays.
Click Add Holiday.
Enter a name for the holiday, for example "New Year's Day" or "Office Closure."
Select the date.
Choose whether it recurs. Turn on the recurring option for holidays that fall on the same date every year, like most public holidays. Leave it off for one-time dates, like a single company-wide closure or a holiday that shifts date every year and needs to be re-added annually.
Save the holiday. It's added to your calendar immediately and applies to every task calculation going forward, alongside your Operational Hours settings.
Repeat for every holiday your team observes. There's no limit to how many you can add, so it's worth listing the full year up front rather than adding them one at a time as they approach.
How Holidays affects task dates
Once a holiday is on your calendar, it's treated exactly like a non-working day in Operational Hours. Any task duration calculated across that date skips it automatically, whether the holiday falls in the middle of a task or right on a start or due date.
Nobody has to remember which weeks have a holiday sitting in them, and no due date quietly assumes work is happening on a day it isn't.
